Bali Acupuncture Clinic - Bumi Sehat

Postby gravyfrus on Tue Jul 27, 2010 9:57 am

Has anyone gone to work at the Bumi Sehat acupuncture clinic in Bali?
I am considering spending some time there and would love to hear about other peoples experience of the clinic. It sounds great, i went to a presentation by Bobbie Aqua, the woman who started it all, in Sydney a couple of years ago ( actually it was organised by the Acupuncture Network so I'm sure there will be some readers who are familiar with the clinic by name if not by sight!) - but not everything that sounds great at a presentation is going to be great at the pointy end so please tell me anything you know people :)

Thanks,
David.

Hi David

I have been trying to find out about volunteering there too. I've had a reply after about a month (I guess things might move slightly more slowly there!) to say they don't need any volunteer acupuncturists at the moment. I have asked when they think they might in the future and will await a reply......

Let me know if you have a different experience.

Thanks

Jo

Oh and incidentally, I was in contact with someone a year or 2 who had volunteered there for about a month and had a really good experience - doing 2 long days in clinic a week and lots of house visits, treating everything but with a focus on fertility - treating couples together, etc.

Hi there,

interested to know more about Bali, look forward to reading what you find out!

If you fancy other options for volunteering overseas there is a clinic in India that I went to about 4 years ago:

http://www.acuindia.org/

It is run by monks and provides free treatments to local people, some of whom travel for miles to get to the clinic. The area is remote, and the clinic treats around 30 -50 people a day. They really welcome volunteers and helping out there gives a big boost to the project.

Please feel free to ask me any questions if it sounds of interest!
